The I Theatre

Step into your story. Step out of it. Repeat.

The I Theatre: A Stage Where ‘I’ Takes Centre Stage — and Sometimes Wanders Off for Tea

Welcome, traveller. You’ve found the place where life and theatre trip over each other and collapse in laughter. The I Theatre is not an ordinary stage — oh no, madam. It is the stage you have been performing on your entire life without quite realising it. The one where you’ve been playing “Me” in a very long, often ridiculous, occasionally profound, never fully rehearsed production.

From the moment you were handed a name, the set was built. Your costumes arrived (some delightful, some itchy), and your script began to write itself out of school lessons, dinner table conversations, heartbreaks, career moves, and your uncle’s unsolicited advice. The plot has been full of triumphs, pratfalls, mistaken identities, and dramatic pauses in which nothing much happens except the kettle boiling.

At The I Theatre, we invite you to step into that story consciously — and, crucially, to step out of it now and again. Our creative workshops, productions, and gloriously unclassifiable experiments let you meet your own character as if for the first time. Sometimes you’ll play the lead, sometimes you’ll be the audience, and sometimes you’ll be the wind rustling through the scenery, grinning at the absurdity of it all.

Step into the fun, transformative theatre where you can pull apart the stage curtains of

“who I am” and see what’s really going on backstage. You might rewrite your ending, throw in a surprise love song, or finally cut that overly long monologue you’ve been dragging through Act II of your life.

Here, you don’t just live your story — you direct it, remix it, and occasionally hand the script to the audience within. Because the plot is never fixed. And the theatre, as you will discover, is far bigger than you imagined.

Lights up. The stage is yours.

JOIN THE I THEATRE PERFORMANCE

The story never repeats itself because the audience never does; the moment you sit down, you are already someone the last play hasn’t met.

Listen intently to a voice singing without words.
It may charm you into crying, force you to dance, fill you with rage, or make you jump for joy.
You can't tell where the music ends and the emotions begin, for the whole thing is a kind of music—the voice playing on your nerves as the breath plays on a flute.

All experience is just that, except that its music has many more dimensions than sound.
It vibrates in the dimensions of sight, touch, taste, and smell, and in the intellectual dimension of symbols and words—all evoking and playing upon each other.”
— Alan Watts

The evening settles, the shadows of the banyan tree grow theatrical, and your seat — quite without permission — becomes the doorway into The I Theatre.

Our Community

The I Theatre community is a loose, laughter-stitched gathering of people who show up with no agenda except to be surprised. We meet, disperse, and meet again — never quite the same group twice, yet always recognisable by the shared sparkle of those who enjoy getting delightfully lost together.
